Offshore Decarbonisation

Offshore Post-Combustion CCS

Proven onshore, adapted for offshore

Post-combustion offshore carbon capture involves the capturing, treatment, and injection or offloading of CO₂. The fundamental processes are the same as used onshore, which are well proven and understood.

Extensive offshore process experience is applied to adapt these established technologies to offshore conditions. Depending on asset type and project location, this may include material selection, design for vessel motions, and the development of a robust and reliable process configuration. This approach enables offshore assets to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions while not interfering with the main process.

Tailored Solutions

A holistic design approach is applied to adapt each system to the specific constraints and requirements of the asset, ensuring a fit-for-purpose solution.

Key design considerations may include:

  • Compact column design to optimize footprint and weight
  • Optimization of the installed CCS capacity and guaranteed capture rate against the asset load profile
  • Configuration of GTG x WHRU/HRSG x CCS and associated control logic
  • Overall heat and energy balance
  • CO₂ treatment tailored to achieve the required product specification for injection

Offshore Hydrogen & Power-To-X

GO.H2 - Offshore Green Hydrogen

At KANFA, we utilise our extensive experience within seawater treatment and offshore process systems to adapt electrolysis for offshore use at scale.

When combined with a renewable or stranded energy source, offshore Hydrogen production and potential further processing into Hydrogen derivatives such as Ammonia can unlock a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.

When combined with renewable or stranded energy sources, offshore hydrogen production and potential downstream processing into hydrogen derivatives such as ammonia, offers a scalable and sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. Production concepts are inherently flexible and well suited to energy sources with natural variability in power generation.

The GO.H2 portfolio has received Approval in Principle from DNV, confirming the technical maturity and suitability of the solutions for offshore application.

A Portfolio to Suit any Asset

We have developed a portfolio of solutions, GO.H2, that can form the basis for any offshore Hydrogen / Power-To-X development

  • Floating and static installations
  • Green Hydrogen production core
  • Production of Hydrogen derivatives such as Ammonia
  • Power Management concepts, incl. flexible loads and battery functions (fuel cells)

Offshore Heat Pump

Enabling Electrification

Our patented offshore heat pump solution is built on well-established onshore equipment and adapts it for offshore use.

A heat pump can be an effective contributor to solving the lack of available local waste heat in offshore assets that receive power from shore, or assets that are constrained on available waste heat. The system reduces both power consumption and power transfer infrastructure installations.

Our compact and energy efficient design are well suited for retrofitting existing assets, eliminating the need for electric heaters or fired boilers.
